Greener Homes Loan
In a world where interest rates are climbing, the Greener Homes Loan stands out as an attractive alternative proving itself worthy of having in your deal-closing toolbox. The Canada Greener Homes Loan offers interest-free financing to help Canadians make their homes more energy efficient and comfortable.
Flexible amounts: Access loans from $5,000 – $40,000 available for qualified upgrades
Repayment term: 10 years, interest-free
Eligibility
- A maximum of one loan is available per eligible property and homeowner
- Exclusive to Primary Residences
- You must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or non-permanent resident who is legally authorized to work in Canada
- You must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or non-permanent resident who is legally authorized to work in Canada
- You have not started the retrofits for which you are seeking a loan
- You have a good credit history and are not in:
- a consumer proposal
- an orderly payment of debt program
- a bankruptcy or equivalent insolvency proceeding
- Eligible retrofits include: home insulation, air-sealing, windows and doors, thermostat, space and water heating, renewable energy, resiliency measures, low-rise multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs)
Oil to Heat Pump Affordability
Canadian homeowners who are eligible for the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability program may receive up to $10,000 toward the costs associated with switching to an eligible heat pump system. Only one homeowner per home can apply. Before you apply, ensure you are eligible.

Eligibility Criteria
- Your household income must qualify as median or below, after taxes
- Your home is an eligible property type
- You are a primary resident and owner of your home
- You heat your home with oil
- You have recent receipts for the purchase of at least 500 litres of heating oil to heat your home in the past 12 months leading up to the time of application
- You have not already received money for a heat pump as part of the Canada Greener Homes Grant or Loan
- You can complete the work within 6 months of receiving the upfront payment
- Your home is connected to a North American electricity grid (Off-grid houses are not eligible)
